WHAT IS THE COLLINSVILLE VIRTUAL ACADEMY?

Collinsville Virtual Academy is a blended and full-time online learning program developed with the flexibility of student needs in mind. Students enrolled in Collinsville Public Schools can choose to take part in the program, which uses certified teachers in math, science, language arts, and social studies. Collinsville Virtual Academy utilizes Edgenuity to deliver personalized online curriculum and blended learning opportunities. Collinsville Virtual Academy is supervised by a certified instructor.

WHO CAN BE A VIRTUAL STUDENT?

Collinsville Virtual Academy students must be enrolled in grades 11-12 in the Collinsville Public School system.

WHAT IS A BLENDED SCHEDULE?

A blended schedule involves taking virtual classes less than full-time at home while still taking some classes at the school site. This allows students who want to attend electives to participate in-person.

CAN COLLINSVILLE VIRTUAL ACADEMY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND ATHLETICS?

YES! Students enrolled in Collinsville Virtual Academy can still participate in all athletics, activities, fine arts programs, and student organizations in the district. Oklahoma Secondary School Athletics Association (OSSAA) requirements require online learners to be in the building for a minimal number of hours per day, which can be limited to the student’s athletic period. This provides students who need an alternative online placement the opportunity to continue to be Cardinals.

WHO ARE THE TEACHERS IN COLLINSVILLE VIRTUAL ACADEMY?

Students will have access to certified teachers in math, science, language arts, and social studies. They will have access to google meet, test help, and office hours.

CAN I GET HELP WITH MY WORK?

Absolutely! The CVA Instructor will be available during school hours and to schedule seat hour appointments for students who need help.

WHAT CURRICULUM OR PLATFORMS WILL BE USED IN COLLINSVILLE VIRTUAL ACADEMY?

Collinsville Virtual Academy utilizes Edgenuity and MathXL to deliver personalized online curriculum and blended learning opportunities. Collinsville Virtual Academy is supervised by a certified instructor.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE TESTS AT SCHOOL?

Yes and no...quizzes and unit exams are allowed to be completed at home. Students who wish to have help or take exams with a teacher will have access by appointment. Final exams and other cumulative exams may require additional academic integrity safety nets and may be required to be proctored at school.

WILL I GET A CHROMEBOOK?

Students who already have a district-issued Chromebook can continue to use it as a virtual student.  New students can check out a Chromebook for virtual school by completing the online application.  Device fees and user agreements apply.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS?

Collinsville Virtual Academy students will need their own internet access in order to enroll in the academy.
